Welcome to BHC, bro.

Except, it's LA. And we'd never complain about our living space.

So, the three of us have arrived safely into Los Angeles, as evidenced by our twitter updates, text messages, and Facebook statuses. But, since we feel that isn't quite enough to sate our unyielding desire to keep you all posted, we're starting a joint blog to document our adventures. And, while I truly hope you enjoy reading it, personally, it helps to make me feel closer to home.

My observations about LA so far:
-The palm trees are so tall, a brontosaurus could comfortably munch on their leaves.
-It was moderately cloudy for about two hours yesterday, and people have been whining about it. This leads me to believe that it's that unusual for clouds to appear...and I'm really, really okay with that. I'm a sunshine girl.
-Driving is fun. Especially when you see mountain bluffs in your rearview mirror, and various studios and lots to your left and right. Can we talk about surreal? (I know, I know, but I'm an East Coast dweller and not out of my fangirl stage yet.)

My observations about Park La Brea (the enormous apartment complex where BU arranges for us to live) specifically:
-It is not an "apartment complex." Well, actually, it is unnecessarily complex to navigate. But "small town" would be a more accurate description of this place. My GPS understands LA fine, but Park La Brea, it cannot handle.
-Our apartment is huge and beautiful, and we have DVR and a comfortable couch.
-There are no other BU students in our building. In fact, the only person we know for a fact lives on our floor is a small Asian toddler who thought playing peek-a-boo with our front door was a fun game. (We thought someone was trying to break in when the lock kept jiggling. But, no.)
-Jenn and I could sublet our walk-in closet as a bedroom. Interested?

My observations about the program:
-We function pretty independently from it, so far.
-We were able to judge everybody from an awkward ice breaker at a housing meeting, where everyone said their favorite movie/TV show. All I'm saying is, it's a really fast friend filter. Admittedly, I said Bay State, so I'm sure they judged me, too.

Aside from that, we saw Josh (former EP of Bay State) briefly to catch up, and we're hoping to hang with him again tonight (or very soon). We've enjoyed the amount of alcohol that you can purchase absolutely anywhere (ex: CVS). We've basked in the sun in tank tops and flip flops, and we've put the A/C on in our cars.

And, yes, I'm playing to my audience. I will tell you all about the beautiful, fun things we do, because if I'm going to end up here, so are you.

--Lauren

PS
To the Bay State folk specifically...I'm really going to miss seeing your reactions at the read-through, which I hear is tomorrow night. I hope it goes wonderfully, and I'm excited for everyone. We're thinking of you, all the way out here!
